The Tail of King Boris of Oris is a short narrative experience about a power-hungry king who was turned into the Ouroboros and cursed to consume his entire kingdom. It was developed over the course of 3 days for the GMTK 2025 Game Jam.
I programmed the narrative system for The Tail of King Boris of Oris, wrote all the text for the story, and built the game world.Â
The moment-to-moment gameplay involves wrapping yourself around objects (eating your own tail) to consume them and grow larger. The story focuses on the greed of the king and the loss of humanity as his size increases, which ties back into the repetitive action of eating his own tail, literally consuming himself due to his greed.
The work that I did proved very effective as we won 5th in narrative overall out of 9,545 entries.
